Types of Sender ID
A Sender ID is a name or number that identifies the sender of an SMS. There are two types: Alphanumeric Sender ID and Phone Number.
Alphanumeric Sender ID
Alphanumeric Sender IDs are sender IDs that consist of letters and/or numerals. Sender Names are alphanumeric Sender IDs. It should be linked to your company name or brand for your recipients to identify you as the SMS sender easily. Below are things to consider in coming up with an Alphanumeric Sender ID.
- An alphanumeric sender ID can have a maximum of eleven (11) characters.
- It can contain uppercase or lowercase letters, numbers, and spaces.
- The use of common nouns is not allowed.
These are examples of valid alphanumeric sender IDs: XYZService, XYZ Service, 123SERVICE. Common nouns like these are not allowed: SMS, Test, User, Service.
Alphanumeric sender IDs are recommended if you’ll only send SMS, including SMS broadcasts. Your subscribers cannot reply to a message that was sent using an Alphanumeric Sender ID.
